The E46 DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) is always enabled every time you turn the car on, given that the DSC system is fully functional. This makes sense for a standard street car, but in a racecar the DSC system is often a hindrance and it can sometimes be forgotten to be turned off, as well as become annoying to have to press and hold the DSC Button every time you turn the car on.
The stock DSC Button is a Normally Open Switch that is Momentarily Closed for the duration that it is depressed, and the duration that it is depressed will alter how the ABS/DSC Module responds. If this switch was held on for too long, such as if the button was stuck in or if a latching switch was used instead, after a period of time the DSC system will revert back to being enabled.
This DSC Automatic Disable Module from Huggins Racing was designed to automatically disable the DSC every time you turn the car on. It works by waiting 10 seconds after the ignition switch is at position 2, and then acting as if you were pressing the DSC Switch for only for the amount of time needed to fully disable DSC. Once completed the module will go into a sleep mode and only function again once the ignition switch is cycled off and back to position 2 again.
Installation is very easy by unplugging the 4-pin black connector of the Switch Center (or just the individual DSC Switch) and plugging it into the module. The included jumper harness from the module can then be plugged back into the Switch Center to maintain full functionality of the Switch Center including the DSC Button which will cycle DSC back on/off again manually, as if this module wasn’t even there.
This module easily tucks behind the dash in a fully interior street car or can be zip-tied out of the way in a race car.
Notes:
– The car can be started immediately. You do not have to pause before starting the engine and wait for the DSC to be disabled.
