It is common to run aftermarket lights on a race car due to being cheaper, lighter, and/or higher output. Typically your only option is to cut off the stock connector and splice in the new light. Depending on the new light you use it may not have a connector which would result in the light being directly connected to your wire harness unless you add some other connector between the wire harness and light.
Rather than dealing with that and cutting the stock connector you can simply use the mating connector for the stock connector, therefore allowing your new lights to just plug in and also allowing you to revert back to the stock lights.
